Square Footage 170,000 SF
Nebraska Medicine, creating a one-stop shop for outpatient surgical services, completed construction on the Lauritzen Outpatient Center (LOC) at the south end of the campus in October 2016. The 170,000 SF building houses outpatient clinics, an outpatient surgery center with ten operating rooms, surgeon and faculty offices, telehealth offices, and research space for the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery & Rehabilitation. In an effort to consolidate all required FF&E-LVS activities for this and two other major projects ongoing on campus, Mill Creek served as the overall equipment standardization consultant. Our team worked with Nebraska Medicine departments as well as their biomedical engineers to standardize all FF&E-LVS on the three projects encompassing more than $30 million in FF&E. In addition, Mill Creek performed the procurement, warehousing, warehouse receiving, outfitting, and move-in services for the LOC. Multiple departments were relocated into the facility in phases within three weekends: Pharmacy, Radiology, Lab, Café, PT/OT, Ortho Clinic, Ortho Faculty, and Telemed on the first and fourth floors the first weekend; OFP, Audiology, ENT, Allergy, OMFS, and General Surgery Clinics on the third floor the second weekend; and all ORs, minor procedure rooms, Pre-Op, and PACU on the second floor the last weekend. All moves occurred ahead of schedule allowing the staff extra time to prepare for their Open for Business dates.
